Concept
MOONRISE is the name given to the project to convert an old office building so as to give it a unique character.
The building consists of 68 units of various sizes, ranging from studios to 4-bedroom penthouses, and also includes two spaces for commercial and office use.
It is designed to fit harmoniously into its environment and be connected to the public space.
A wide range of apartments has been designed to accommodate residents of all ages.
Each unit features private outdoor spaces and high ceilings that provide exceptional light.
Most of the main roof is a green roof equipped with solar panels.
The greening of the embankment behind the building separates it visually from the rest of the block and helps diversify the vegetation thanks to the planting of local species. This variety of environments will promote biodiversity and give the site a green appearance.
The implementation of excellent energy and acoustic performance, as well as the independence from fossil fuels, are just a few of the remarkable additional elements of this upmarket project.
Architect’s note
MOONRISE is a major renovation project of high-quality, cross-ventilated, and bright dwellings with generous ceiling heights in living spaces and large outdoor areas.
Our vision takes shape through several key choices.
We endeavour to highlight the constraints relating to the existing building by paying special attention to liveability and the arrangement of spaces.
The terraces and walkways become not only functional but also essential elements to the architectural identity of the project.
We opted to distinguish the residential volumes visually with light tones and the commercial and service spaces with dark tones, to make it easier to understand the building and to integrate it visually into its environment
We are installing green roofs and maintaining the existing green barrier inside the block, thereby helping to strengthen the connection between nature and the urban environment, while promoting biodiversity and improving the quality of life of the residents.
We are designing varied public and semi-public spaces (esplanade, collective garden, and spacious lobbies) that encourage social interactions while preserving a certain level of privacy for the residents. The crescent shape of the building also contributes to this effect by fostering a sense of belonging and community among the inhabitants.
Our architectural project aims to create a harmonious and lively urban environment where the quality of life of the residents takes priority while contributing significantly to the development and renewal of the neighbourhood.
